30,000 vehicles use the drive every day! Photo taken Sunday, Nov 12 at about 4:30 pm. the corner of Jos. Janisse and Riverside Drive while waiting to cross over to Goose Bay Park. The weekend traffic on the Drive is often the worst. With no rush hour there is no bunching and the Traffic is just steady and fast. | Letter to Minister April 5, 2007 letter from Riverside Drive Residents Steering Committee to Ms. Laurel Broten, Minister of Environment, regarding their environmental concerns related to the Vista Report. We hope this web site will help educate other Riverside residents as well as any interested City of Windsor residents about the proposed changes to Riverside Drive and why we are so concerned. For more information on saveourdrive.com or to help our cause, please contact: Sharon McKeown – 519-945-2133, Gary Kelly or Mark Petro – 248-494-1017. Values and Solutions Supporters of Save Our Scenic Drive's believe in: - Traffic safety
- Preservation of the concept of a Scenic Drive (passive design, slower traffic speed and volume, mature tree canopy, etc.)
- Openness to a solution that accommodates both cycling and vehicles, while satisfying resident concerns
We feel these 3 goals can be accomplished by: - Additional meaningful traffic calming measures of 400 vph and reduction of speed of 40/50 kpm
- Effective and permanent traffic diversion (which can only be achieved by the completion of all plans for Wyandotte Street)
- Both the first two issues to be accomplished before either the final design or implementation of any permanent bikelane solution
Signs, Signs, Everywhere a Sign We hope to draw attention to our concerns about the city's proposed Vista Improvement Project with the use of these vivid signs as well as bring people to this web site, (noted on every sign). We hope people will learn the real issues and hopefully support our cause. If you would like a sign for your own lawn, please contact Heather at 519-944-7849. Who took the signs and why? |
